CE Mark Certification

CE Mark (European Conformity)

What is CE?

CE marking is a certification mark that indicates conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards for products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA). The CE marking is also found on products sold outside the EEA that are manufactured in, or designed to be sold in, the EEA. This makes the CE marking recognizable worldwide even to people who are not familiar with the European Economic Area. It is in that sense similar to the FCC Declaration of Conformity used on certain electronic devices sold in the United States. The CE marking is the manufacturer's declaration that the product meets the requirements of the applicable EC directives. The mark consists of the CE logo and, if applicable, the four digit identification number of the Notified Body involved in the conformity assessment procedure.

Benefits of CE Mark

  • The great benefit for manufacturers is that there is now only one set of requirements and procedures to comply with in designing and manufacturing a product for the entire EEA. The various and conflicting national regulations are eliminated. As a result, the product no longer needs to be adapted to the specific requirements of the different member states of the EEA.

How do you implement CE Mark:2013?

  • All you need to do is demonstrate that you have fulfilled the essential requirements of any relevant directive.
  • Also, you need to meet the relevant harmonized standards, and then produce the Declaration of Conformity and the Technical File.
  • Finally, you can affix the CE mark on your product and start marketing it in the EU.
